SWATCHED: (Coming soon to Canada) Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick - The Buffs Collection

Today I have the Maybelline's ColorSensational lipstick - The Buffs collection.

These are already out in the US but will be available here in Canada on January 14, 2014 - so mark your calendars!

I have been a long time fan of Maybelline, as their products rarely disappoint me.  I was impressed by the Vivids lipsticks and the ColorSensational high shine lip glosses are my favourite lip gloss ever.

Going back to the new collection... there are 8 colours and in my opinion, the colour selection will suit a lot of skin types.  let me show you.... 

 

910 - Bare All 

This is the lightest shade, and with my NC20 skin, this totally erased my lips lol.  It was like a lip eraser - which can totally be a base for brighter lipsticks

915 - Blushing Beige

Nude with pink tones 

920 - Nude Lust 

This is my favourite out of all 8 shades.  My PERFECT nude.  

The colour is very similar to #915

925 - Maple Kiss

930 - Truffle tease

945 - Stormy Sahara

similar to truffle kiss, but with a light pinky/orange-y tone

950 - Untainted Spice

lighter than 955; has a hint purple undertones

955 - Espresso Exposed

Now, this colour surprised me when i removed the cover.  I thought this was too dark to be considered a nude - but again, the collection can accommodate a lot of skin tones.  When I applied this on my lips, it was a perfect fall colour - it was like cranberry/wine...but of course you can sheer it out of a wash of colour on your lips

I had high hopes for this collection, just because the Vivids & the lip glosses were a hit for me...and the buffs did exactly that. I love them!  The texture was creamy and applied smoothly on the lips. 

The only shade I had a problem with was the lightest one (910) - because it was so light, it emphasized some dry areas on my lips (so if this colour suits you, I highly recommend that you exfoliate your lips with some lip scrub and moisturize) 

I kinda like the packaging as it completed the 'nude' collection really well.  the names are also quite cheeky for this line *_^ My most favourite is the shade called "Nude Lust" - now I know the names are not as vulgar as the ones from Nars, but you know what Im sayin' yes?

I was excited when I heard about this collection coming out - and to now have them, its even more exciting ^_^

Swatched: Revlon Parfumerie nailpolish (Part 2)

this batch of nail polishes require at least 2 coats

 (especially the more metallic ones, as there are visible brush strokes)

Fresh Linen - nice pearly white; smells soapy; applied 3 coats in this photo

Spun Sugar - has a chemically sweet scent which I'm not a fan of; definitely needs at least 2 coats

Wild Violets - its an eggplant colour with purple and blue duo chrome? ; smells floral; 

opaque with 2 coats; 

              

Espresso - a blue black colour; smells like old coffee grounds (lol); opaque with 2 coats

Italian leather - dark olive green with gold shimmer; has a kind of sweet scent (?); opaque with 2 coats

I have yet to make another trip to our drugstores to find Autumn Spice.. grrr its driving me insane that I cannot fnd it!! :( #lifeofabeautyblogger

REVIEW: Maybelline Color Elixir

Today I bring you the Maybelline Color Elixir

As you can see on the above swatch, the color is very opaque and pigmented!

I've heard other youtubers saying they are not impressed with the pigmentation - but i concur (atleast to these 2 colours in particular).  

Here it is on my lips ^_^

The colour (Vision in Violet) was a teeny bit more violet on my lips than it was on the bottle(has more pink i think..but almost bang on).. and to be quite honest, im not even sure how to wear this colour.  I mean, I dont know if I can pull this colour off..but this shade is great nonetheless.

The Caviar Couture is great for the Fall/Winter season.  This colour looks super dark on the bottle (which was a bit intimidating, and made me think twice about purchasing it).  But since i don't have this colour in my collection, I thought I might as well (lol)

I noticed it has some fine sparkles, which I didnt mind.  In my opinion, it added to the glossiness of the colour.

The texture feels a bit thick on the lips (for my liking), but its not uncomfortable.  its not sticky when you press your lips together.  It is super glossy, and as I've mentioned, the colour is very pigmented.  My only complain about these color elixirs is the scent.  it smells like jasmine flowers plus something else that i cannot put my finger on.  When I tried this color, i was hoping the scent would wear off but it kinda lingered on (and i wasnt even wearing it for that long) that i wasn't able to tolerate the smell at all :(

My verdict?  I would give them a pass (unfortunately).  I would rather buy the ColorSensational High Shine lipglosses instead (which I have majority of).  I know the description for the Color Elixirs are not similar to the ColorSensationals, but since these (Color Elixirs) are not marked as Limited Edition, I'd rather spend my money on the ColorSensationals.  The reasons are: 1 - you get more product; 2 - super pigmented and non sticky.  3- smells better

What do you guys think of the Color Elixirs?

Nail of the moment: Bourjois So Glossy nailpolish in Adora-Bleu

I am wearing Bourjois So Glossy Nailpolish in Adora-Bleu

This was my first nailpolish from this brand, and I was impressed!

It was opaque with one coat! (as shown on picture above)

It also applied smoothly and evenly.  The brush is the perfect size and made the actual polish application a breeze.

It also claims that the glossiness should last up to 10 days (lets see if this is true!)

PRODUCT OF THE DAY: Revlon Lash Potion Mascara

The Revlon Lash Potion.

This is the prettiest mascara tube I have ever seen, and to be quite honest, I bought it at first because of the packaging (don't we all sometimes hey?)

The first time I tried this, I wasn't really impressed... I couldn't find a waterproof version and of course, it smudged.  Secondly, I found it that it was a bit wet for my liking, and it doesn't hold the curl of my lashes.. so in a nutshell, i hid it in my makeup drawer for a bit..

I've heard other makeup artists or make up gurus on youtube that they open a mascara and won't use it til after a week or two, and it will perform how it should.

And so I did too...

... i LOVE this mascara!!!!

It holds the curl of my lashes, gives them a noticeable length and volume..its super black

i really have nothing bad to say about this product and i highly recommend this! 

i was so happy when i finally found the waterproof version! it was like ....aaahhhhhh 

the gates of heaven open, and i can hear angels singing... lol!
